This furniture cover (grill? porch chair?) blew into Kay Zearfoss's yard several days ago. It's now in the clubhouse. Please pick it up there.
Thanks, Kay, for retrieving this and for letting us know.
Eagle is in the nest sitting on eggs. Wood ducks are as pretty as ever. Blue Herons are fixing up their nests. Deer running around. Shelduck splashing itself.
I watched this one pair of Blue Herons trying to get a second stick in place for a nest.
The female builds the nest, the male just goes and gets the sticks. She had her foot on the first stick to hold it in place. She dropped 4 sticks in a row while I watched. Just couldn't get that second stick in place. I got a picture of one of the falling sticks in the air as it fell down. They all drop nest building sticks some times. The sticks fall at the base of the tree.
You would think that when the male sees this he would fly down to the base of the tree and pick it up and fly back to the nest. No, he flies anywhere from 20 yards to 100 yards away and looks for another stick. I've seen this many times over the years. And I have never seen a Heron steal a stick from another nest. Some might do this, but I haven't seen it.

Providing quality live entertainment in the Lebanon Valley since 1934, the Lebanon County Community Concert Association is one of the oldest community concert programs in the country.
The LCCCA Board members (all of whom serve voluntarily with no remuneration) assume responsibility for "back-stage" details: rental of the auditorium, printing of tickets, securing ushers, printing and distribution of advertising fliers, the transportation and housing of the artists, piano tuning, and so on. Sometimes the going is rough and there is lively discussion as to what artists to schedule, or what date to choose, but one thing has been constant through the years: the love of good music and the desire to bring to the community of Lebanon the joys of live music.
